North Korea Now 9th Nuclear Power, Says Russia
(IsraelNN.com) North Korea has become the ninth nuclear power in the wake of its underground test of a nuclear device this week, said Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov on Tuesday.
Ivanov added that the test constituted “a colossal blow to the non-proliferation regime.” The Russian official made his comments at a news conference in Moscow after the North Korean event, and said “North Korean de facto has become the ninth nuclear power.”
Gunfight in Gaza, No Injuries
PA Arabs in northern Gaza opened fire on IDF soldiers Tuesday evening, the soldiers returned fire. No injuries were reported in the attack; however, the vehicle the soldiers were riding in sustained damage.
Indian Probe Into Israeli Arms Deal
(IsraelNN.com) Police in India said Tuesday they were investigating charges that former Defense Minister George Fernandes and retired navy Chief Admiral Sushil Kumar overruled objections by a state-run defense agency to buy missiles from Israel.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said the two former Indian defense officials were pressured by others involved in the deal. The bribery case involves a multi-million dollar deal that was cut in the year 2000.
Firebomb Attack Without Injuries
An Israeli motorist was attacked with firebombs on the Hizme-Anatot Road on Jerusalem’s northern border. No injuries were reported.
19 Arrests in Counter-Terror Operations
(IsraelNN.com) IDF soldiers involved in counter-terror operations throughout Judea and Samaria during the night arrested 19 suspects.
Arrests were made in the Jenin, Kalkilya, Hevron and Ramallah districts. Suspects in custody include Islamic Jihad, Hamas and Fatah Tanzim terrorists. There were no reports of injuries among IDF soldiers.
Terrorist Killed While Placing a Bomb
IDF soldiers caught a terrorist placing a bomb in the al-Iyan area near Shechem; they fired at him, killing him.
